As Sorghum remains one of Nigeria’s most important cereal crops, with a strong role in food production, livestock feed and agro-processing, Hence, to boost production, more agricultural investment, value addition, stronger partnerships between Nigerian agricultural organisations and international businesses is needed.
It’s against this backdrop that the National Chairman Africa China Chairmen of business council forum and CEO/Publisher Africa-China News, High Chief Mikel Yousuf Ugwu Zheng Xiaopeng on Monday the 24th of August, 2026 received the delegation from the Federation of Agricultural Commodity Associations of Nigeria (FACAN) and the National Association of Sorghum Producers, Processors and Marketers of Nigeria (NASPPAM) at the ACCBCF ‘s Headquarters in Abuja.
The delegation which was led by the General Secretary Dr Bello Dogondaji and the Admin Secretary, Prince Bakare, National President Abdulkadir Ibrahim Gaya, General Secretary Atrogor Augustine Ijeh and National Auditor, Yakubu Buba focused discussions on opportunities for collaboration and investment in sorghum production, particularly the proposed establishment of a laboratory to support sorghum development in Nigeria.
The planned laboratory is expected to support efforts that’ll improve Nigeria’s sorghum output, research and value addition across the sorghum value chain. It will also create an opportunity to connect Nigerian agricultural organisations with international businesses and technology providers.
FACAN is the apex umbrella body for agricultural commodity associations, cooperatives and producers in Nigeria with roles in promoting the interests of agricultural commodity stakeholders and supporting the development of Nigeria’s agricultural sector.
NASPPAM is a major agricultural commodity association dedicated to organizing and empowering stakeholders across the sorghum value chain.
ACCBCF is a Nigeria-based international business cooperation platform focused on strengthening Africa-China economic cooperation, leadership, Agricultural and industrial development. The platform connects businesses and stakeholders across trade, investment, technology and industrial development.
The engagement of all platforms underscores ACCBCF’s focus on building practical partnerships that can attract technology, investment and expertise into Nigeria’s agricultural sector.
For the sorghum industry, stronger collaboration would help boost the economic development of top sorghum producing states in Nigeria like Kano, Gombe, Bauchi and Adamawa with new opportunities in research, production, processing and market development, while supporting Nigeria’s broader drive to strengthen agricultural value chains.
