Over 40 Tanzanian anesthesiology professionals and students have participated in a specialized training session on ultrasound-guided regional nerve block anesthesia, held at the Mloganzila Campus of Muhimbili National Hospital.
The initiative, led by the 27th batch of the Chinese medical team in Tanzania in collaboration with the Association of Tanzania Registered Nurse Anesthetists (ATRNA), aimed to enhance local expertise in advanced anesthetic techniques.
The training brought together healthcare professionals and students from Muhimbili National Hospital and the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences.
Dr. Zhang Junqiao, head of the Chinese medical team, spearheaded the session, delivering a comprehensive lecture on ultrasound-guided nerve block techniques. The program also featured an innovative hands-on workshop using animal models, offering participants practical experience in a controlled setting.
“This training is a significant step toward advancing anesthesiology skills in Tanzania,” said Dr. Zhang.
“We plan to hold regular sessions to further support hospital staff and students in mastering these critical techniques.”
Local participants expressed gratitude for the Chinese medical team’s efforts, highlighting the program’s potential to strengthen Tanzania’s anesthesiology community.
