Nigeria-China Partnership: Tegbe Briefs Tinubu on Key Milestones

Joseph Tegbe, Director-General and Global Liaison of the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership (NCSP), has paid a courtesy visit to President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja to provide updates on the advancing strategic partnership between Nigeria and the People’s Republic of China.

According to a statement from the NCSP Media Directorate, Tegbe briefed the President on key developments in transformative projects and ongoing engagements with Chinese government officials and business leaders.

“The initiatives focus on critical sectors, including infrastructure, manufacturing, technology, healthcare, agriculture, education, and mineral development, aligning with Nigeria’s Renewed Hope Agenda to foster economic growth and enhance living standards,” the statement said.

Tegbe highlighted recent milestones, including productive discussions with major Chinese stakeholders such as Huawei and Power China, to advance agreements from the 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).

President Tinubu, in his remarks, commended the NCSP for its proactive role in deepening Nigeria-China relations. He urged the team to accelerate the implementation of priority projects to deliver measurable benefits to Nigerians.

Appointed in September 2024, Tegbe oversees the implementation of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) signed during the FOCAC Beijing Summit. Some of these initiatives include cooperation on the Belt and Road Initiative, the development of peaceful nuclear energy applications, human resource development under the Global Development Initiative, and media collaboration between the China Media Group and the Nigerian Television Authority.
