Chinese Embassy Probes Alleged Abandonment of Nigerian Miners in CAR

The Chinese Embassy in Nigeria has launched an investigation into a viral video alleging that a Chinese mining enterprise abandoned Nigerian miners in the Central African Republic (CAR).

The video, which has been widely circulated online, reportedly shows Nigerian miners stranded in CAR, claiming they were left without support by a Chinese company.

The embassy in a statement on Friday said it is committed to uncovering the facts surrounding the incident. It stated that it “attaches great importance to this matter” and has initiated an immediate probe to ascertain the details of the situation.

According to the embassy, the Chinese government mandates that all its enterprises and citizens operating abroad adhere strictly to local laws and regulations.

The embassy in the statement urged the involved companies to address the issue appropriately and to maintain close communication with Nigerian authorities throughout the investigation.
