Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment Pledges Support for Africa-China Investment Partnership

The Chairman of the Africa China Chairman of Business Council Forum (ACCBCF) has called for deeper collaboration between Nigeria and China during a courtesy visit to the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Chris Osa Isokpunwu.
During the meeting, the ACCBCF chairman emphasized the need for stronger institutional support from the ministry to enhance investment promotion, trade relations, and business cooperation between Nigeria and China. He noted that improved collaboration would open new opportunities in key sectors of the economy, including manufacturing, infrastructure, technology, agriculture, and industrial development.
According to him, the forum remains committed to strengthening bilateral business engagements and creating platforms that will attract more Chinese investors into Nigeria while also supporting Nigerian businesses seeking partnerships in China.
The chairman further highlighted the importance of government backing in facilitating investor confidence, policy support, and ease of doing business, stressing that Nigeria stands to benefit significantly from increased foreign direct investment and technology transfer.
In response, Dr. Chris Osa Isokpunwu reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote economic growth, trade expansion, and international partnerships.
The Permanent Secretary pledged the ministry’s support toward the growth and sustainability of the partnership between Nigerian and Chinese business communities, noting that such collaborations align with the Federal Government’s agenda of industrialization, economic diversification, and job creation.
He also encouraged continuous engagement between public institutions and private sector stakeholders to unlock greater investment opportunities and strengthen Nigeria’s position as a leading investment destination in Africa.
The meeting is expected to further deepen economic cooperation between Nigeria and China and foster new channels for bilateral trade and investment development.
