Kaduna Secures $200 Million Chinese Investment to build Largest Poultry in West Africa

Kaduna State is set to host West Africa’s biggest integrated poultry hub following the advancement of a $200 million investment deal with Chinese partners, Governor Uba Sani announced during a high-level mission to Beijing.

The governor, who arrived in the Chinese capital this week, is leading a delegation to finalize binding agreements on the project, an ambitious agricultural venture expected to reshape Nigeria’s food production landscape and significantly boost job creation.

According to Governor Sani, the initiative builds on the recently unveiled Nigeria–China Strategic Partnership, and is projected to generate up to $450 million in annual revenue once fully operational. The project is also expected to create more than 350,000 jobs, spanning direct employment on farms to extensive opportunities across the supply chain.

Covering 10,000 hectares, the agro-industrial complex will combine large-scale poultry farming with maize and soybean cultivation to support feed production.

Officials say this integrated model will help address persistent feed shortages, reduce production costs for farmers, and strengthen Nigeria’s food security.

Construction on the pilot phase is scheduled to commence next month, marking a major step toward positioning Kaduna as a central hub in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for agricultural transformation and self-sufficiency.

Governor Sani is accompanied by senior federal officials, including the Director General of the Nigeria–China Strategic Partnership.

The delegation will hold a series of closed-door meetings with top Chinese companies, including the China Communications Construction Company (CCCC), to secure technical expertise, long-term investments, and critical infrastructure support.

Governor Sani described the project as a defining moment for Kaduna and for Nigeria’s agricultural future.

“This is more than diplomacy; it is a blueprint for prosperity. On behalf of Kaduna State and the entire nation, I express deep appreciation to President Tinubu for championing this vision and to our Chinese partners for their steadfast support. We remain committed to driving investments that uplift our people, secure our food systems, and establish Kaduna as Africa’s leading agro-industrial powerhouse,” he said.
